Ruling MLA Syed Altaf Bukhari here on Friday virtually embarrassed Deputy Chief Minister holding the port folios of Power and Housing and Urban Development Departments by leveling serious charges of sleeplessness of the administration on worsening power scenario, defunct housing policy and collapsing Development in Srinagar city and other parts of Kashmir Valley.
According to KNS correspondent covering the assembly proceedings, alleging that the government is yet to invoke a power generation policy, Bukhari said that no entrepreneur is ready to invest in power sector in Kashmir as no one knows for whether budget for the power sector has to come from the Finance or the Power department.
He regretted that six top officers are holding additional charges in the power development department as the government is sleeping over the promotion of dozens of officers for the last seven years.
Alleging an unprecedented delay in the work on Ganderbal power project, Bukhari asked and wondered that how long this scenario of inaction and sleeplessness is going to continue. Alleging that there is no housing policy as the government is scared to share master plans of Srinagar city and other measure towns of Kashmir Valley. He said it looks as if government does not need MLAs in the formulation policies and implementation of decisions MLAs are not taken on board.
He regretted that the government did not bother to invite him to foundation stone laying ceremony of a parking slot hardly hundred meters from his residential house, Bukhari said he would love to offer a cup of tea to the sponsors of this foundation stone laying ceremony if he would have been invited to the function.
He expressed his surprise over the way government has delayed the spending of seven crores of rupees approved during his ministerial tenure by Housing and Urban Development Department for flood ravaged infrastructure in Srinagar city.
He also questioned the implementation of centrally sponsored AMRUT and Swach Bharat schemes in Srinagar city and other towns of Kashmir Valley on many counts. (KNS)
